WHAT WE LOVE...

This Victorian mansion near Bath's city centre has recently been given a new lease of life as a vibrantly-furnished boutique hotel, with its unusual name reflected in the art and artefacts. The 31 bedrooms come in a wide range of shapes and sizes, and are individually decorated with bold pieces of art and soft furnishings. Many have far-reaching views across the city, and all have access to a complimentary larder of snacks and soft drinks. Hearty, accomplished and great-value food is on offer in Plate, with the restaurant's emphasis squarely on local West Country ingredients. An elaborate outdoor terrace is used in summer and winter for eating and drinking. It's a lovely 10-minute walk into the centre of Bath along Great Pulteney Street, the city's grandest Georgian street.
