Hotel Review
Barnsley House, Cirencester, Cotswolds
A honey-stone manor house in a picture-pretty Cotswold village, Barnsley House has stylish interiors, good food, a neat little cinema and a charming spa that backs on to a meadow. But that all plays second fiddle to its famous grounds, devised by gardening legend Rosemary Verey, who lived here from 1951 until her death in 2001. Now beloved as one of the top hotels in the Cotswolds, Barnsley House is a pricey, adults-only retreat - every inch a dreamy destination for romantic couples, garden aficionados and those seeking a rural escape.
