Nineteen, Brighton, East Sussex
Located a pebble's skim from both the beach and the bawdy, neon-lit delights of the Palace Pier, this stylish guesthouse has bagged a prime position in central Brighton within easy reach of the bars and clubs on St James's Street. Once you step through the door of the narrow Victorian townhouse, you'll find a light, contemporary pad decked out in seaside splendour with cool-white tones and a rainbow of modern art, mostly by local Brighton artists. More a modern guesthouse than your typical B&B, its hip, laid-back style attracts a millennial crowd.
It's close to both the beach for a paddle, and the Palace Pier for the Dolphin Derby.
The guesthouse is on Broad Street, just off St. James's Street, with its shops and bars, and a short walk from the Royal Pavilion.
By car: Brighton is around 2 hours' drive from London, and 45 minutes from Gatwick Airport. Bristol is 3 hours away. While there is no parking on-site, paid on-street parking can be found nearby.
By train: Trains to Brighton regularly from London Victoria, London Bridge, London Farringdon, and London Blackfriars, roughly every 20 minutes. After leaving Brighton Station, Nineteen is a 20-minute walk or 10-minute taxi ride. thetrainline.com
Style & Character
Nineteen tends to attract a boho clientele, who like good gin and appreciate contemporary art. We love to kick back with a Brighton Gin and tonic and listen to the crashing waves nearby.
