WHAT WE LOVE...

Located in the upmarket 9eme arrondissement, just off elegant Boulevard Haussmann, Hotel Chouchou - the name means 'little darling' - is the latest in the portfolio of the Paris-based Elegancia Group, which already has around 20 hotels in the city. Chouchou's USP is the private baths offered in the basement; three different, stylishly-decorated havens each with an ooh-la-la jacuzzi big enough for two. Reached by a mirrored corridor, the small lobby leads into airy skylit hangout Guinguette, which features a bar, plenty of chairs and tables for co-working as well as socialising, and a small stage at the back which hosts regular events and live music. Walls are painted a rich, matte petrol blue throughout, adding a sophisticated feel which is lightened by playful touches like neon signs of classic French phrases such as Voulez vous couchez avec moi ce soir? The restaurant, Le Marché, is divided into sections which offer meat, fish and vegetables, giving a traditional, food market feel. There are 60 rooms, in classic and deluxe categories, and three suites, inspired by classic French crooners Edith Piaf (La Vie en Rose), Serge Gainsbourg (L'Anamour), and Boris Vian (L'Arrache Coeur).
