WHAT WE LOVE...

After a satisfying day pounding the grimy but always fascinating streets of Berlin, it's bliss to return to prosperous Prenzlauer Berg and this smart, family-run hotel. Opened in 1902, the huge building functioned as a public baths for 82 years and was then saved by a citizens' initiative that saw it reopen in 2016 as an exceptional 70 room hotel. Part of the appeal is admiring how original features from its 200 bathing cabins are incorporated in the design, along with the joy of taking a dip in its historic indoor pool. Add in neat, stylish rooms, a sumptuous breakfast and a snazzy bar with top class cocktails, and you have one of the most distinctive places to stay in the German capital.
