WHAT WE LOVE...

Meloneras is Gran Canaria's version of Las Vegas' Strip. It's big, brash, and, in its own way, beautiful. Glittering hotels are of the shouty, look-at-me-variety. Making sure it stands out is the five-star Lopesan Villa del Conde Resort & Thalasso. The resort is a neo-Canarian village in its own right, complete with central square. The reception is built to resemble one of the most distinctive churches on the island, Agüimes' Parroquia de San Sebastián. At night, when it is lit up, the effect will send your jaw tumbling to the floor. Time and time again. A resort within a resort, there's enough to see and do on your doorstep without ever feeling the need to step outside the comfortable enclave.
