WHAT WE LOVE...
You can't get much closer to the shores of Ullswater without boarding one of the nearby ferries, as this hotel sits right on the edge of this vast Cumbrian lake. Elegant bedrooms sit within a handsome stone mansion, and a pair of restaurants offer varied dining experiences from afternoon teas to zingy Asian dinners. The hotel makes the most of its location with bedrooms and lounges facing that epic Ullswater view, so sitting with a tea - or G&T - and watching the weather move across the sky is the main pastime here - if you're not out hiking. In summer, the vast lawns by the lake are idyllic for an afternoon stroll, while the patio is the perfect spot for sunset spotting come evening.
