WHAT WE LOVE...

Everything but standard, The Standard is a hip hotel with stylish 1970s-style interiors - think retro furnishings, bold pops of colour and dim lighting. It's housed in a Brutalist building opposite King's Cross St Pancras station, with a capsule lift that takes guests up to a swanky rooftop terrace. The fashionable yet decidedly unpretentious vibe attracts millennials seeking a cool London pad where they can unwind and feel at home in north London's revamped King's Cross area (its days as a derelict neighbourhood are behind; it's now a creative hub with cool shops, trendy bars and hipsters in skinny jeans strolling to the offices of tech giants). Head up to tenth-floor Sweeties to sip cocktails as you gaze at the London skyline through floor-to-ceiling windows, or sit back and relax at Decimo, the hotel's sophisticated restaurant where Spanish and Mexican flavours combine (tortillas, pork ribs and the like, along with potent margaritas).
