WHAT WE LOVE...

Le Farnatchi bills itself as 'an oasis of peace in the madness of the Medina' and that's undoubtedly true. It lies hidden away in Kaat Benahid, one of the oldest parts of the city, and is an amalgam of nine private houses that have been fashioned into a luxurious riad with ten spacious suites, a small pool, an elegant spa and - across the road - an excellent Moroccan restaurant. Created and run by a British family, it is a charming and romantic bolthole that takes its name from the public oven next door where bread is still baked, creating delicious aromas in the morning, with plenty of good things to see close by. The hotel is closed in August.

Rooms

In winter, bag one of the three suites that have a fireplace in the bedroom. In summer, go for one with a private balcony or terrace. The rooms here are larger, lighter and more private than in many riads, with huge beds and a lounge area.

Suite 1-10
Facilities include: ensuite bathroom with toiletries, air conditioning, TV, docking station, phone, WiFi

Food & Drink

The room rate includes a satisfying breakfast with fresh orange juice, fruit and yoghurt and can be enjoyed when and wherever you fancy it. We loved the Charmoula sardines stuffed with spiced vegetables followed by mixed mershoui (three different cuts of roast lamb) served with grilled courgettes.

Le Trou au Mur: rooftop restaurant, Moroccan and international cuisine. Dishes include Tagine of the Day and stuffed poussin. Open daily for lunch and dinner.
