WHAT WE LOVE...
Carey's Manor is a friendly spa hotel in Brockenhurst in the heart of the charming New Forest. The old manor part of the hotel is truly grand with buckets of character, while other parts of the hotel have been added to over the years giving a more modern feel. The Sen Spa is a destination in itself, with a Thai team of masseuses that work magic on aching limbs, a hydrotherapy pool and full thermal suite, and innovative new treatments - such as the Alphasphere sound and light treatment. Food is top-notch in the French brasserie Blaireau, the Thai Zen Garden and the main Cambium restaurant.

We love wandering into Brockenhurst and browsing the little art galleries and gift shops - and stopping for a cake at the Bakehouse.
The hotel is in a prime location for enjoying woodland walks in the National Park.
By car: it takes around 30 minutes from Southampton and 2 hours from London. The hotel offers free parking.
By train: Brockenhurst station is a 10-minute walk from the hotel. The journey takes 13 minutes from Southampton and 1 hour 40 minutes from London Waterloo. thetrainline.com

The four-poster manor suite is the grandest room in the house with a beautiful bay window. Pittefaux Cottage, located in the grounds, is a self-catering cottage for up to seven people. We love the smart TVs that let you log in to your Netflix so you can watch the next episode in your box-set.

There are great healthy eating options on the superfood menu created by Spring Green London, and available all day in Zen Garden, Cambium and the bar. We love the enormous breakfast and the dish of rye toast with smashed avocado, poached egg, chilli and lemon available to order.
Cambium: two AA Rossettes, formal, refined British dishes, local ingredients. Open all day. Mains from £15.
Le Blaireau: relaxed, Brasserie-style dining, authentic French cuisine. Open for lunch Friday-Sunday 12-2.30pm and dinner four days a week 6-10pm. Mains from £14.50.
Zen Garden: healthy spa menu, authentic Thai dishes, ethical food policy. Open for dinner four days a week 5.30-10pm. Mains from £14.95.
