WHAT WE LOVE...

A large, family-run guesthouse with the atmosphere of a small hotel, the Remont is a popular choice for return guests thanks to its comfortable, modern rooms, efficient staffing and modern décor. The property sits in the affluent suburb of Summertown, a couple of miles from central Oxford, but with regular buses from almost outside the door. There are plenty of shops, restaurants and bars nearby, while the free, off-street parking and ease of access to the historic city core make exploring stress-free. Although the décor is mostly pleasant but functional in style, the rooms are lifted by large modern artworks and a scattering of designer furnishings elsewhere. There's a landscaped garden, good breakfasts and friendly, accommodating staff.

THE DETAILS

Location

We love the easy access to the city centre without the premium prices of a central stay.

The Remont is a 10-minute bus journey (two miles) from Oxford City Centre, and a 10-minute walk from the local Summertown shopping parade, where there are a number of resaturants and shops.
By car: The hotel is 1 hour 30 mins from London, 1 hour 20 mins from Birmingham and 3 hours from Manchester. There is free parking on-site for guests.
By train: London Paddington or Marylebone to Oxford takes around 1 hour. The hotel is a 10-minute taxi ride from the station. thetrainline.com

Style & Character

The hotel suits short-stay guests looking for a clean, comfortable and convenient base at a reasonable price thanks to the suburban location. The swing seats in the garden are a great place to relax over a drink at the end of the day.

Service & Facilities

Plenty of off-street parking so you can dump the car and explore on foot or by public transport is handy.

  • Breakfast room
  • Garden
  • Two lounges
  • Free parking
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Laundry service

Rooms

The oversized artworks on the bedroom walls add a sense of character without being too overpowering. Go for a room at the back - the guesthouse is on a busy road and traffic noise can be a problem.

Small Double, Standard Double, Twin, Superior, Triple, Family,
Facilities include: Simba Hybrid mattress, ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower, free Wi-Fi, LCD TV, tea and coffee facilities, mineral water, biscuits, desk

Food & Drink

We love having breakfast in the garden on a warm summer's morning and feeling quite removed from the city bustle. Although the hotel does not have a bar, guests can bring their own alcohol and get glasses and ice buckets from reception.

Breakfast: continental selection and cooked breakfasts to order. Served from 7.30-9am Monday to Friday, and 8-10am on weekends and Bank Holidays.
