WHAT WE LOVE...
This family enterprise close to Tenby has lots going for it. The rambling Victorian manor - once a farmhouse - is furnished in an unpretentious, rustic style, with lots of enticing public areas indoors and out to eat, drink and unwind. Set at the end of a long drive, the hotel overlooks the undulating fairways of its scenic 18-hole golf course. But Trefloyne's owners are at pains to stress this is not a golf hotel - though golfers use the hotel's restaurant and bar, the golf club's facilities are kept separate. More important enticements for most hotel visitors are the hearty, down-to-earth food, the delightful little spa in an old dovecote, and the smart and comfy bedrooms, particularly those in the barn-like former coach house.

Location
We love that you're in a thoroughly peaceful and rural spot, but at the same time the bright lights of Tenby are close by.
The coast is less than a 10-minute drive from the hotel, as are the shops and restaurants of Tenby.
By car: around 2 hours from Cardiff, 4 hours 30 minutes from London and 5 hours 30 minutes from Sheffield. There is free parking on site.
By train: The closest train station to the Trefloyne Manor is Penally Station. The hotel is a 6-minute taxi ride from Penally Station. thetrainline.com
Style & Character
Trefloyne Manor is perfect for those looking for a peaceful and roomy south Pembrokeshire base with good food and facilities, including the on-site golf course and a spa. The hotel set-up and the golf side of things are sensibly kept as separate as possible from each other.

The spa, Dovecote Naturally, is intimate, unusual and atmospheric, and as such our favourite spot in the complex.

Rooms
Our favourite room is the Coach House Bridal Suite, whose romantic pièce de résistance is a slipper bath on a raised platform within the main room. There are also appealing self-catering options - the light-filled and stylish Loft Apartment and The Daffodil Chalet, a timber lodge in the grounds' woodland.

Food & Drink
There is a great choice of dining spots - as well as the conservatory restaurant, you can eat in the bar and, weather permitting, on the big terrace overlooking the golf course. For us, a highlight is the generous bowl of pan-fried tiger prawns with garlic and herb butter, served with a chunk of home-made bread.
The Orangery: one AA Rosette. Informal, modern British cuisine. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Mains from £8.
