WHAT WE LOVE...
The charming cobblestoned alleyways leading to this small, secluded and distinguished historic boutique hotel give an idea of the characterful retreat ahead. Part built into the city's Roman walls, it features numerous impressive ancient features such as columns, arches and bare stone walls. It has been sympathetically modernised by top local architect Rafael Moneo, with guest rooms and public areas both sleek and contemporary. Although there is no spa or fitness centre, there's a great smart restaurant and a highly rated tapas bar, a cocktail bar and a pretty rooftop area with a plunge pool. The interior courtyard with its orange trees and seating is gorgeous too.

Surrounded by ancient cobblestoned alleyways and historic buildings all around, the atmosphere here is great.
In the heart of the Gothic Quarter, you're only a short stroll away from La Sagrada Familia and Las Ramblas.

Style & Character
It's quite sedate here; rest assured you won't be woken up in the night by a DJ set pounding through the building. We loved the historic architecture and elegant interiors.

The surroundings of the eating places are almost as delicious as the food; the Iberian chorizo and the Andelucian calamari with vanilla tomato sauce certainly takes some beating.

Le Bouchon: informal gastrobar, seasonal produce. Tapas and light bites. Open daily, 12:30-4:30pm and 6:30-11pm.
