WHAT WE LOVE...
Menorca's first five-star luxury hotel, Villa Le Blanc Gran Meliá, is situated right on the seafront just a few steps from Sant Tomás Beach on the south coast of this laid-back Balearic island. The white-washed Mediterranean-style architecture integrates sustainable design and construction principles and the hotel hopes to achieve carbon neutral status. With the reception area open to the sea, you feel that holiday vibe from the moment you walk through the door. A large central infinity pool is edged by the main bars and restaurants, which serve top-notch Mediterranean cuisine. Perhaps try a local lobster stew, caldereta de langosta, at S'Amarador, a new outlet for one of the island's most popular seafood restaurants, or opt instead for paella in NIVI. To escape the midday sun, duck into the tranquil spa for an Anne Seminon treatment.

Breakfast is an elaborate buffet spread that is heaving with fresh fruits, salad vegetables, meats, fish and cheeses along with exquisite cakes and pastries. We loved S'Amarador's local lobster stew, the caldereta de langosta, which comes with a deeply flavoured bisque.
