WHAT WE LOVE...

The five-star Ritz-Carlton, Abama commands your attention. Part of that is down to its dramatic clifftop location. It's also thanks to the colour of the exterior - pink never fails to make an impression. Then there's the sheer size of the place; the main part of the hotel is dubbed the Citadel. The hotel's grounds are huge, with guests spread out rather than cluttered in one concentrated area. The effect is calming and there are plenty of private spaces to enjoy a more secluded stay. A hotel with excellent sports facilities, it has attracted famous guests including former sports personalities and current television presenters Gary Lineker and Greg Rusedksi. Bill Clinton has played on the Abama golf course too.

THE DETAILS

Location

We love the way the hotel is a resort in its own right and you feel unhurried, allowed to explore at your own pace.

The hotel is in a stunning clifftop location, with a sandy beach right below, 20 minutes' drive from the little historic town of Guía de Isora.
By plane: flights from London, Birmingham and Manchester to Tenerife take around 4 hours 30 mins. The hotel is a 30-minute drive from Tenerife South. skyscanner.net
