WHAT WE LOVE...

Housed in a striking clocktower building dating from 1909, the interior of this engaging, chic hotel is anything but historic. Blending the elegant, understated design of Ian Schrager, with neutral beiges and creams enhanced by warm browns and stark blacks, the hotel offers 273 luxuriously appointed spacious guest rooms alongside swish public areas including two attractive cocktail bars, a restaurant overseen by Michelin-starred chef Jason Atherton, a characterful billiard room, gym and spa.

THE DETAILS

Location

It's in a prime location, by Madison Square Park, near the Flatiron Building, Union Square, several subway lines and neighbourhoods such as Chelsea, Gramercy and the Garment District. Madison Park it must be said is pretty small by UK standards, it's more a large square, but it's a nice place for a stroll before relaxing at the hotel bars.

The hotel is in lower Manhattan (NoMad) with several museums as well as the Empire State Building nearby.
By plane: flights to New York take 6 hours 50 mins from London and Edinburgh, and 7 hours 10 mins from Manchester. The hotel is a 30-minute taxi ride from JFK airport. Parking on-site costs 83$ per day. skyscanner.net
